REVIEW: Freeman's Facial Brightening Rose Paper Mask

I'm definitely a face mask junkie, and I've just discovered that the WalMart where I go to school has a TON of single Freeman masks. Bad for my wallet...good for my skin! I had never tried a paper mask, so I decided to try the Freeman Facial Brightening Rose Paper Mask, which claims to brighten and tone. 

The mask comes in a small packet and when you take it out, a lot of extra rose liquid (serum, they call it) will drip and spill everywhere if you aren't careful (oops). It is a medium pink color, so I was a little scared when it dripped all over my gray sweater. No need to worry--it came out with a little laundry stain spray. The thin wet mask is attached to a thicker paper; you just peel it off and lay it on your face for 5 or 10 minutes. 

I feel that paper masks are always sort of awkward to put on, because everyone does not have the same face, so it was kind of difficult to get it straight on my face. It has a mild rose/soapy scent that I would be weary of getting it into your eyes. It had a cooling feeling and got slightly tighter as the 10 minutes went by--but not uncomfortably so.

Overall, this was a great mask! Definitely worth the less than $2 I paid for it. I'm not sure what really classifies as 'dull' skin, so I don't know whether or not there was a major difference in my skin, but there is definitely a noticeable one. After removal, the directions say to press the extra serum into your skin--don't rise or wipe anything off. My blemishes were slightly more irritated (red), but after a few minutes they returned to normal. The rose serum left my skin feeling clean, smooth, and smelling very nice. 



I love Freeman masks, and I will continue to try more! They don't test on animals, and their simple, yet attractive packaging always draws me in. 5 out of 5 stars! \(◕ ◡ ◕)/

REVIEW: Prestige Cosmetics Total Intensity Eyeshadow in 'Spellbound'

Spellbound is a duo-toned rose gold champagne color with a fine gold shimmer.  At first glance, it looks like an average nude champagne eyeshadow, not special or unusual. But when looked at more closely, the different shades appear, mainly the rose base that the gold shimmer lies in. The shimmer finish glides on evenly and blends easily. The color payoff is quite saturated; I only had to swipe my finger once to get an intense swatch. The eyeshadow is not chalky or powdery and I had no fallout. 

When it comes to the actual wear of this eyeshadow, it fell short. After only four hours it creased (with a primer!), and in a very obvious way. For someone with non-oily lids, it may work better. However, I have used this eyeshadow as a highlight on my cheekbone and it looks gorgeous there. 

Another problem I had with this product is what occurred about two minutes after I opened the compact, when the eyeshadow pan popped out. This would be excellent if you wanted to depot it to put into a Mac or Z-Palette, however, I did not. I solved the problem by gluing the pan back down with a small amount of super glue, but I feel like this cheap packaging would be more of a problem for others.

This eyeshadow would be perfect for a rose-gold eyeshadow look, if you have the time to put down a few primers or bases before. For $8, I do not recommend it; the beautiful colors of this eyeshadow couldn't distract me from the horrible wear.

UPDATE:
I have started using this product again since it has been getting warmer outside, and my view on it has completely changed. I don't know if my skin has changed or what, but I am obsessed with this eyeshadow now. I use it as a wash of color over the lid if i'm feeling lazy, or as a highlight on my cheekbones. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you buy it if you like highlighters. It gives you a perfect rosy gold highlight that can be applied to look natural or dramatic. New rating: 4/5

DUPE: MAC Saint Germain vs. Covergirl Enchantress

I recently went to the store and bought Covergirl's Enchantress, prior to buying MAC's Saint Germain because I came across a blog post which said that they were almost exact dupes. Being a total MAC virgin (not counting one foundation), I thought if I could buy a drugstore dupe of Saint Germain and save ten dollars, then I could spend that money on a more exclusively-colored MAC lipstick. As I discovered, Saint Germain is pretty exclusive.

Saint Germain is described by MAC as a 'clean pastel pink' lipstick with an amplified (i.e.: very creamy, slightly shiny, highly pigmented, high-impact) finish. [x] It is known in the beauty community as MAC's take on a barbie pink.

Price: $15

Where to purchase: MAC Online, MAC Stores, Counters (Macy's, Belk, Nordstrom, etc.).

This is my first MAC lipstick, so I can't compare it to others. However, it wore very nicely throughout the day, although I did touch it up a couple of times. It seemed to be one of those (holy-grail!) lipsticks that fades nicely and evenly on your lips, so you can get away with one application if you want to. I have very fair skin so it appeared only a few shades away from a hot pink on me, but it is still wearable with the right eye makeup. I think it would look nice on all skin tones, and obviously the darker your skin the more pastel it becomes. I think it would suit medium skin tones a little better than others.

Wear it with: soft brown smokey eyes and/or simple winged eyeliner.




















Enchantress is a neutral toned bright pink with a frosty, shimmery finish.
Claims: Covergirl claims that this is a 'bright, gorgeous color that can transform your day and your lips. Enriched with a silk moisturizing complex, our formula helps sustain moisture levels and helps create soft, smooth, beautiful lips in just 7 days'. [x]

Price: $6.99

Where to purchase: Walgreens, CVS, Ulta, drugstore.com, etc.

Overall Rating: 2/5, the shimmer and frosty finish really make this lipstick unwearable for me.
I am generally a fan of Covergirl's lipsticks, but this one in particular was not my favorite. I thought the frosty finish gave off a trying-too-hard vibe. The formula, however, is quite moisturizing, as the claim states, but I can't say whether or not it improves your lips in seven days as I have not worn it seven days in a row. The wear of this lipstick isn't as good as Saint Germain, it tends to wear off in splotches, especially while eating or drinking.

Wear it with: nothing, don't wear it. It's ugly. Just kidding, kind of. Soft brown smokey eyes would work too, or simple black eyeliner. Add false eyelashes if you want to look like a barbie.

Final thoughts: if you're looking for a barbie pink lipstick, buy Saint Germain. It's worth the extra ten or so dollars. If you like hot pink, frosty lipsticks, buy Enchantress, but otherwise, stick to other Covergirl lipsticks without the shimmer.
