Spellbound is a duo-toned rose gold champagne color with a fine gold shimmer. At first glance, it looks like an average nude champagne eyeshadow, not special or unusual. But when looked at more closely, the different shades appear, mainly the rose base that the gold shimmer lies in. The shimmer finish glides on evenly and blends easily. The color payoff is quite saturated; I only had to swipe my finger once to get an intense swatch. The eyeshadow is not chalky or powdery and I had no fallout.
When it comes to the actual wear of this eyeshadow, it fell short. After only four hours it creased (with a primer!), and in a very obvious way. For someone with non-oily lids, it may work better. However, I have used this eyeshadow as a highlight on my
cheekbone and it looks gorgeous there.
Another problem I had with this product is what occurred about two minutes after I opened
the compact, when the eyeshadow pan popped out. This would be excellent if you
wanted to depot it to put into a Mac or Z-Palette, however, I did not. I solved
the problem by gluing the pan back down with a small amount of super glue, but I feel like this cheap packaging would be more of a problem for others.
Overall Rating: 2/5
This eyeshadow would be perfect for a rose-gold eyeshadow look, if you have the time to put down a few primers or bases before. For $8, I do not recommend it; the beautiful colors of this eyeshadow couldn't distract me from the horrible wear.
UPDATE:
I have started using this product again since it has been getting warmer outside, and my view on it has completely changed. I don't know if my skin has changed or what, but I am obsessed with this eyeshadow now. I use it as a wash of color over the lid if i'm feeling lazy, or as a highlight on my cheekbones. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you buy it if you like highlighters. It gives you a perfect rosy gold highlight that can be applied to look natural or dramatic. New rating: 4/5
